Bluffing Bull

The African Elephant is the most majestic of all animals. His size, strength and beauty are an impressive sight and one of my favourite subjects.

"In this painting I have attempted to emphasize the size of a mature bull by lowering the horizon line and placing the subject out in the open. To emphasize an elephant's strength I have created a strong side lighting effect. The long shape of the painting and depth show the vastness of the African bush where Elephants once lived. Sadly their numbers are reduced today due to poaching and an ever increasing human population."
